General Description: The goal of the Postgraduate Periodontology
program is to provide a foundation in the clinical, behavioral, and
biomedical sciences that will enable the graduate to diagnose, manage,
and/or prevent diseases, abnormalities, and structural conditions
affecting the periodontal and periimplant tissues.
Professional Recognition:
The postgraduate programs in advanced dentistry are accredited by the
Turkish Council of Higher Education. There are strong efforts of the
faculty to fulfill the requirements of The European Community Course
Credit Transfer System which is recognized in most European countries.
A Doctor of Philosophy Diploma is awarded upon successful completion of
the program.

Post-graduate courses offer stimulating career options. In addition to
private practice, excellent opportunities exist in teaching and research,
careers with government agencies. The policy of Başkent University is to

Prosthodontics Postgraduate Program

General Description: The main purpose of the prosthodontics
education is to train professionals who can understand the nature of the
prosthetic needs of a patient and diagnose them correctly to treat the
patients to an optimal function and esthetics. Apart from conventional
prosthodontics, this program also includes treatment and understanding
patients with maxillofacial prosthodontics, temporomandibular joint
disorders and implant supported prosthodontics. Instruction in the
didactic and clinical curriculum consists of lectures, seminars and
practical courses, clinical education and research.

Endodontics and Conservative Dentistry Postgraduate Program

General Description: The program is designed to educate qualified individuals to pursue careers as teachers, researchers and practicing clinical specialists of Endodontics and Conservative Dentistry . The program meets the educational requirements for limitation of practice to the specialty of Endodontics and Conservative Dentistry. The program is composed of two interrelated components: lecture courses that provide the student with a firm biological basis for patient care, and lectures, seminars and clinical training designed to produce clinical proficiency in Endodontics and Conservative Dentistry. Research experience is gained through completion of an individual doctorate thesis. The clinical curriculum will occupy approximately 50-60% of the resident's time and the didactic, teaching, and research components make up the remaining 40-50% of the program.

Orthodontics, Post-Graduate Program
Program

Uçkan DDS, PhD
General Description: The main objective of orthodontics is to
provide ideal occlusion and articulation while preserving the balance of
the profile and jaws. Our department was founded in 1999 and the PhD
program initiated in fall semester, 2000. The department of orthodontics
offers a PhD programme and the length of the programme is 4 years. The
first two years consist of lectures, seminars and practical work and the
students are obliged to prepare a PhD thesis at the last two years. The
students are expected to complete the treatments of at least 80
patients. The program is designed to give a wide perspective on the
diagnosis, prevention, interception, and treatment of all forms of
malocclusion of the teeth and surrounding structures; and also to give
knowledge and skill on the design, application and control of functional
and corrective removable and fixed appliances. Different types of
treatments, including interdisciplinary treatment options of patients
with periodontal diseases and pre-prothetic orthodontics are carried out
as well as orthognatic surgery approaches and treatment of cleft lip and
palate patients.
